Artist Statement

I have been an art painter performed the oil and acrylics on canvas for many years.I used to depict flowers common existed in my homeland, Taiwan, and Australia, where I live with my family now. The beauty of the floral and fauna let me have the painting motivation to continue painting. As my effort of developing and understanding the art industry, I put more effort on the paintings of natural environment and culture to create some connection about the land where I come from.

For myself, my work is based on re-imagined memories of my homeland. That includes how to perform the indigenous people life and environment on their everyday life, also what is the nature culture within their day to day life.

My style of painting is inspired by the contemporary impressionist landscapes of Chinese artist Wou-Ki Zao, and the bold motif of flowers of American artist Georgia O’Keeffe. Due to their rich performance on the painting, I developed my painting skill shown on the imagery exhibition to explore what the beauty of the culture value through the art from my painting style.

I am also informed by the colours and compositional arrangements of O’Keeffe, and the expressive mark-marking of Wou-Ki Zao, I am presently developing my own visual language to be a professional art curator. I believe I will refine my painting skills to a professional level to make myself accepted in the art industry in Australia, and along the way I will learn more art history to become a respectable art curator.
