Artist / Art curator Cathy Tung

Cathy Tung was raised in Taiwan and moved to Australia in 2004. From a young age she had a talent for visual arts and was one of the few students to be selected to study fine art at the Chinese Culture University in Taiwan. While studying in the university, she experienced a variety of different skill sets which led her to winning multiple university prizes and awards in Taiwan, including high distinction in the 19th exhibition of lecturer & student calligraphy and a bronze medal award at the Autumn exhibition Chinese brush painting competition. .
From a young age Tung had a strong interest in water painting, Chinese painting and calligraphy. In recent years she had developed an interest for oil and acrylic painting. Throughout her study and works had gathered local interest with a lot of positive feedback her output of artworks increased by the years. However later in her career, due to the circumstances of her family she was unable to pursue her visual art career.
In 2000, she started a studio to help educate young kids to learn more about art. The studio was a way for her to pass on her knowledge to her students.
Since 2019 Tung has revisited Chinese painting and calligraphy, began the new oil painting. In the following year 2020 she also began the new acrylic painting. Now her major focus is on nature, flowers, landscape and her personal emotions.
She has performed her curating art work at UC Campus in Brisbane , in 2021, this curating was very successful. The curating and exhibition in 2023 had also gained honour from people, art industry and participants. It also caught lots of attention from various art groups in the community.Her success was fabulous and incredible.
She has a strong will to keep pursuing her youthful dreams and is now studying the final year at the University of Canberra (visual arts).
